Sudan seizes another daily newspaper, making 2015 worst year for country’s media
Sudanese security officers have confiscated the entire print-run of El Jareeda daily newspaper in Khartoum, following a punishing six months for the country’s media. In 2015 so far, 75 print runs from a variety of newspapers have been seized.
Ashraf Abdelaziz, editor-in-chief of El Jareeda, said recently that the security services were trying to exhaust the newspapers financially, as they still have to pay staff and printing presses regardless of the seizures.

Islamist group leader Al Jozouli Al Amin arrested
Secretary-General of the Sudanese Tayar Al Umma Islamist group Mohamed Al Jozouli Al Amin has reportedly been arrested by security agents on Tuesday morning.
The group is accused of supporting the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (also known as IS or ISIS). Al Jozouli’s arrest came just days of his release from a previous detention, according to a statement released by the group on social media without giving further details.
The Islamist leader’s arrest also coincided with departure of a number of Sudanese students to join ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

British medics believed to have left Sudanese university to join Isis
Seven Britons are among a group of students who have travelled to Turkey in what is believed to be an attempt to join Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria.
The 12 students, who all studied medicine at the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Khartoum, Sudan, left for Turkey on Friday.
