SALO Public Dialogue: Elections in Southern Africa: Elections and Projections – 29 Feb 2024
On the 29th of February 2024 The Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) held an in-person workshop titled, Elections in Southern Africa: Reflections and Projections. Venue: Southern Sun Hotel, Pretoria.
In a region marked by its vibrant yet varied democratic processes, Southern Africa stands at a pivotal moment. In the last six months, there have been elections in Swaziland, Zimbabwe, and the DRC, alongside the anticipation of upcoming polls in 2024 in South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, and Madagascar. This evolving electoral landscape presents a unique opportunity to assess the state of democracy and electoral integrity across the region. Recognising the significance of these developments, the Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) held a public dialogue to facilitate a reflection and forward-looking analysis of electoral practices in Southern Africa.
