On the 21st of June 2024, the Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) held a virtual public dialogue on the civil society perspective on the South African elections 2024 resulting in a Government of National Unity, and the possible impact of this outcome on South Africa’s foreign policy on Zimbabwe and eSwatini.
This public dialogue aimed to create awareness and influence public policy on issues in Zimbabwe and eSwatini by facilitating dialogue between policy makers, civil society including labour movements and diplomats; and to better equip regional civil society to engage with SA’s policy processes in relation to regional peace & security and human rights.
Topics of discussion included the implications of the recent South African general elections for regional stability, and explore possible new approaches.
