International Day of Persons with Disabilities
3 December was proclaimed as International Day of Persons with Disabilities by the United Nations in 1992 and is observed annually. The aim of this day is to raise awareness of the issues faced by persons living with disabilities in every aspect of social, political, economic and cultural life.
This year’s theme is: “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.” The national theme for this day is “The Year of Charlotte Mannya Maxeke – Create and Realise an Inclusive Society Upholding Rights of Persons with Disabilities”.
