Court Convicts Editor and Writer
Bheki Makhubu, the editor of the Nation magazine in Swaziland, and writer and human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko were convicted of contempt of court by the kingdom’s High Court on Thursday (17 July 2014).
This followed the writing and publication of articles critical of the Swaziland judiciary and in particular of the Swazi Chief Justice Michael Ramodibedi. allAfrica
AUC Chairperson Joins Meeting of African Ministers of Integration in Swaziland
African Union Commission Chairperson, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has arrived in Ezulwini, Swaziland to participate in the Seventh Conference of African Ministers in charge of integration (COMAIV11), being held under the theme, infrastructure and integration in Africa. She was met on arrival by the Commissioner of Economic Affairs Dr Anthony Mothae Maruping, accompanied by the Director Dr Rene Kouassi N’Guettia. allAfrica
SSN to Join Palestine Solidarity Alliance and BDS SA On Mandela Day!!!!
The Swaziland Solidarity Network [SSN] will be joining many South Africans on Nelson Mandela’s day in a Solidarity protest with the people of t Palestine this Friday at 13h30 in Sandton outside the Israeli Embassy Trade Office (Corner Fredman and West Street).
The protest is in solidarity with the Palestinian people who are currently under attack from the Israeli government and calling for an end of all trade with Israel until it ends its oppression of the Palestinian people. In less than a week Israel has killed more than 170 Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip (see below for more information). Nelson Mandela Day was chosen for this protest due to Mandela’s close identification with the heroic Palestinian people. allAfrica
King, President Nguema expected at King Zwelithini’s wedding
His Majesty King Mswati III and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Nguema are two heads of state expected at the wedding of King Goodwill Zwelithini to his Swazi wife, Zola Mafu. King Zwelithini will officially marry Mafu as his sixth wife.The ceremony is expected to take place at the Ondini Royal Palace next Saturday. The Swazi Observer
